Sea Hunter Speargun by US Diver

I have a vintage US Diver Sea Hunter mid handle speargun. Which I really liked using until a Hogfish swam off with my shaft after the tie string broke. I have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement shaft for this gun.

Does anyone know where a replacement shaft for this gun can be purchased?
I have already tried Ray Odor in Florida (along with all of the other spear gun suplliers), but he does not have the details of the latch in order to make one.

If someone has one of these vintage guns with a shaft & could take some close-up pictures of the shaft where it attaches to the trigger/release mechanism I could get some replacement shafts made. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

I posted a sketch of the sear on SB about a year ago. I can't post any more attachments for some reason. I get an "error" message from SB. Spearcrafters made up some Sea Hunter shafts for me in 5/16. Maybe his machinist still has the hardware and drawings I supplied.

OK, I located one of my threads on this subject. Here, you will find documented everything you need to know. This is precisely the reason I publish technical discussions of certain projects. Modest though it may be, somebody, somewhere will need it eventually. (Change the one dimension listed on the dwg as 0.725 to 0.700).

NB,

IMO the Seahunter had to be one of the worst guns ever made.

If they were not pre-firing, then they would not fire at all.

The owner of the store where I worked, about 25 years ago smashed and threw away half a dozen of them. He said they were too dangerous.

The cost of making up spears for that old gun is beyond practical. Just go buy a popular gun for where you live.
