My family and I are going to Curacao at the end of the month. We will be staying at the Marriott. I have 2 quick questions has anyone dove with Caribbean Sea Sports? They are the shop on the Marriott grounds.
second what are sea conditions at the end of march beginning of April?
We were in Curacao several years ago and everyday the ocean was pretty rough, I want to know if we should stick to beach diving because loosing your breakfast on a boat is not the way to start your day.
Thanks,
john

Hi H20

I used to work on Curacao and used to know the crew at CSS, although some of the personnel have changed since then. Most of the dive sites on the SE coast are accessible from the shoreline anyway, without the need for a boat, and sea conditions were, for the most part, pretty mild. Of course I recommend you check out Mark and Suzy at The Dive Bus because I used to work there (almost exclusively shore diving) and anywhay the house reef at Pierbaai is better! :D

Drop them a line, but wherever you decide to go, enjoy it, it's great! :D

Hello H2O lover (I hope your name means you love being in the water not just drinking the stuff)

Normally this time of year (March, April) the wind is stronger than in the remainder of the year (exceptions are always possible) so the sea can be more choppy than in other periods. That is the reason why this is the season of flying kites. Like Crowley said a good alternative would be to do shore diving on the days that the sea looks too rough for your breakfast. Plenty of good shore dive sites are available; next to the Marriott is the Crash site and a bit further to the East Fisherman's wharf where you can dive to the left and to the right. Both sites are very worthwhile. These are just two examples nearby where you will be staying.
