I searched and did not find any posts on this so here goes:

We have 2 atomic regs that are coming due for annual service - bought at Scubatoys. The LDS will charge for parts and labor Scubatoys will charge only for labor.

Scubatoys has always been a stand up company and treated us VERY well over the years. I have little reservation sending them down to Tx for service, but I wanted to get some opinions from folks who have done so before me.

Please share your experiences with Scubatoys service dept.

Many Thanks!

I have a friend who sent them a Dacor Viper America reg for service. Their service was great, very reasonably priced, and with a quick turn-around. If your LDS can't service them to your satisfaction, I wouldn't hesitate to send them to ScubaToys.

Question, How does Scubatoy offer a free parts program when to my knowledge even Atomic doesn't offer that. Are the free parts coming out of Scubatoys pocket?

I would double check on the free parts with ScubaToys. Parts kits for Atomic regs run $30 or so. for both stages. Even at cost that would eat pretty good into their $50 service charge. Which is BTW is quite reasonable. Also remember to offset the cost difference with postage both ways which at worst case could be $30.

Also if I interpret your sig Sandy, UT correctly the shop you might have contacted Dive Addicts is a fine shop. I know the tech well and he does very good work. The other local shop that services Atomic Neptune's is also a good shop. I would not have a problem taking my gear to either shop for service. (I have atomic regs but do the service myself).

If the cost difference is little I would say go local only for the reason that if there is a minor problem and you have a working relationship with a local shop they are apt to help out for nothing.

That said if I did not have a local shop and did not service my regs myself I would say send them off to ScubaToys.

Finally, one other comment on reg service. Some mfg recommend and even require service every year or two but often if your reg is performing properly and check out okay on the bench they might fine with a tune up rather than rebuild. Another local tech taught me this process and what to look for. With my atomic's they are at year four and I will rebuild them later this winter. Not to say this process is for everyone but it is what I do.

Scared Silly, I like the way you are thinking. I am in UT and frequent both shops. I must have misunderstood the parts deal since that doesn't appear to happen anywhere.

Both reg have been on 4 one week trips and are working perfectly. We take meticulous care of them so a full rebuild is probably not needed.

The idea of needing an adjustment after service was our biggest issue. the LDS could do it on the fly.

With the parts being a non issues, we will hit up Dive Addicts or Neptune.

Thanks for all the feedback! Very helpful.

Bring your regs into Dive Addicts. We'll get them taken care for you right away and save you on your shipping charges! We'll also let you jump in the pool and try them out same day if you want! Matt and Justin do a great job on the servicing. You won't be disappointed!

Warm regards,
Randy
