hi forum,
so I'm shopping around for my first BCD. I think I've narrowed the candidates down to 4 choices.
1. Scubapro X-Black
2. Scubapro X-Force
3. Aqualung Axiom (without i3)
4. Mares Dragon MRS Plus
I'm a recreational diver so I don't do any specialist type of diving. I like the tropical water and don't care about portability that much. I'm trying to reason why one BCD would be better than the other. They all seem pretty much the same. Though I get the impression that the Aqualung and Mares models are the most similar because of the quick release weight system. I've been looking at the Scubapro models because I have not heard of issues with the weights falling out while diving. The more expensive X-Black model is on the list because the larger pockets and extra D rings look useful in case they would be needed at some point in the future(though I'm not really sure if those things matter).
When I compare these BCDs they only thing I see different are price, looks and in the case of the X-Black: bigger pockets and more D-rings and slightly different weight systems. I'm sure there must be more to take into consideration. Any recommendations why I would choose one over the other? Is the X-Black overpriced? Avoid the Mares due to flimsy plastic? Are the pockets on the X-Force too small?
I realize all 4 choices will probably serve me well, but since my decision making process is likely based on flawed logic due to inexperience... ...I'm interested in everyone's personal opinion to help push me to a final decision.
