Air Z? Count your blessing that they will do anything at all. The whole "Air" line was a real sustainability failure.

Ask them if they will sell you a refurbished one (upgrade) Usually you can get a really good price.

If you search on the Uwatec air series, you will find they did not develop an easy way to replace the battery. It tends to fail.

Sorry, dude; I learned all this when I was researching my ScubaPro Uwatec Aladins.

My husband wound up buying one of these units from a "friend" who hadn't dove his gear in over 2 years. The battery lasted a couple of dives, then crapped out. Now, a YEAR later & multiple trips back to the local SP dealer (who allegedly sent it back numerous times) the unit MAY work properly. Or may not. They supposedly worked on the transmitter, the wrist unit, replaced them with refurbished units... whatever.

But every time he used it even just in the pool, it didn't work.

Frankly, ScubaPro's customer service during this whole affair simply SUCKED. So even though their regs are currently working fine, we probably won't ever be buying any of their products again.

I didn't give any onfo other than my name and phone #.

The reason they want that much is most likely because they are going to not only change the battery, but to a pressure test to make sure that there are no leaks. When you buy a good quality watch from either a jeweler or a watch specialist, they will tell you that anyone can change the battery but if you want the watch to last after diving with it they will tell you to do a pressure test. I have family in the jewelry business and they are also dealers for Rolex and other fine watches. I have had to find this out the hard way with a watch that luckily wasn't a Rolex, but was damn expensive.

I can have my Citizen (or Rolex if I had one) battery changed in New Orleans (Clock and Watch Shop), pressure tested, and time reset for $15.00. I can see $50.00 for their trouble, but this is ridiculous. I am a Scubapro owner, big time, but this is bad for business on their part.

I've sent back an Aladin Air Z and an Aladin Air Z O2 and transmitters through two different SP dealers. I never paid a dime for the battery replacement....I only gave my name and a contact number for when it came back.....I didn't buy either one from a LDS and never showed proof of purchase....No hassle, just great customer service....

and why exactly would pressure testing cost $200? :rofl3:
well the pressure testing does not cost $200. I am not sure what it runs right now, but I am going to say probably around $100, maybe a little less. I have never paid for it so I really dont know. (it is nice having family that does this kind of stuff.)
