Hi everyone. I wanted your opinion on my set up. First of all I bought this setup in 02'. It is a ScubaPro MK16/R380. I have only used it a few times when I first got it. Just wanted to know what thoughts are before I get back in the water agian after a long time off. Is this setup still good to use(the service is current on it) aside from service problems what do you think? Maybe some pro and con of this compared to new ScubaPro set. Most of my diving will be in Lake Michigan very little travel to Florida will be done as well. Any and all advise/thoughts are welcome. Thanx.

Sure, why wouldn't it be? I know plenty of people diving regulators that are 10-15 years old, and one of my friends dives his dad's Aqualungs from the 80's without complaint......

I have an R380 as my bungeed octo. For an inexpensive stage I think it breathes fairly well (I've used it at 100 FSW), but if is more abrupt than my balance adjustable or the G250V I just bought.

If you're considering an upgrade, you may find that you like a balanced 2nd stage better & delegate the 380 to backup status. I've only had the 250V in the water a little, so far I'm pretty impressed with it.

The Mk 16 is a good frst stage - and if you got it serviced in the last year or so, it should have been upgraded with Mk 17 internal parts.

The R380 is fine and is not really any different than the current R295.

What DA said. One of these days we need to meet my friend. I play at regulator repair and overhaul for my own equipment, you really know it.
