I am a relatively new diver looking to buy a regualator. The Scubapro mk11/r395 is aroung $250 on the internet. I know someone that wants to sell their Sherwood brut for $175. Should I spend the extra money for the Scubapro or should I just buy the Sherwood? Thanks for your help.

I would buy the Scubapro. $175 is way too much for a used Brut. I have tons of experience with Sherwood, and always laud their reliability. But, of the Sherwood line, the Brut is my least favorite (I haven't yet formed an opinion on the SR-1). If you want to stay with Sherwood, buy the Oasis, or the Blizzard, which should be about the same price as the Scubapro you quoted.

As much as I love my Brut I must agree. Unless it comes with octo, gauges, and lp hose. It was my first reg and I still use it. Has never freeflowed, gets used on pony bottle and is easy to service. But the SP is a good reg and may serve you better.
