No real southerner claims Florida as the south.
What he said. ^^^

Too much carpetbagger in the DNA.

Just wanted to ask... do y'all know this reg? Dacor Olympic 800 First Stage. It has a reserve knob and was made in the 70s. Is it suitable for cave diving? My dive buddy wants to know.

I know nothing about the reg but the biggest challenge may be finding someone with parts who could service it. I believe Mares bought Dacor in the late 90s so it may have been a while since parts were made.

What do you guys think of the Dacor Olympic 800?
I think it's great! It would be even better is you were to buy my T-swivel adapter I had on mine so you can add an octopus and bc inflator hose to it. PM me if you're interested. :-D

But seriously folks-see this thread:
Dacor Olympic 800 1st Stage Regulator?

What limitations does the MK10 / G250 combo have? It's good for cave diving in Florida and Mexico, but would it be bad for other kinds of diving? Salt water? Cold water? Anything I need to watch out for? DO I need to have the regs cleaned or rebuilt or serviced more often than say Dive Rite or Deep Six regs? Anything they can do that the MK10 / G250 can't do? And why do some recommend MK25 and G250v and other regs from Scuba Pro if the MK10 / G250 are the cream of the crop? Just want to have as much knowledge about this subject as I can get from this forum. Thanks.

mk10/g250 is perfect for everything except maybe the coldest water. Diaphragm first stage regs are a bit better for that application.

People say the 25/250v is better because it’s newer. I have both. I like the 10/250 better. Either combo is going to be excellent. You’re really overthinking this way too much. At the end of the day you’ll spend more for the 25/250v, but if that doesn’t matter get them. Even if money doesn’t matter I’d still get the cheaper, older regs.
