I have the opportunity to purchase a brand new scubapro ladyhawk bc with air 2 inflator. I have asked the seller to provide me with a standard inflator since I want a separate octo. The seller says he does not have a standard inflator but I can purchase one at a dive shop. Is this true? Is the ladyhawk with or without air 2 the same bc, only with different inflator equipment?

Also BC is brand new. Will Scubapro still honor warranty?

As for are they the same bc the answer is yes. Regarding the warranty I don't know. But most gear requires you purchase from an authorized dealer to get any kind of warranty. Buying from a private seller the mfg cannot be expected to guarantee anything. They have no way of knowing what a non dealer did to it unless you were to take it to a dealer and have them check it out. Even then the mfg is under no obligation to warranty anything. Would you expect Ford to give you a warranty on a car you bought from a private seller? I wouldn't so why should a scuba gear mfg be any different. If a warranty is a concern or a must have, buy new. Otherwise you takes your chances.

Jim I will disagree with you on the car warranty analogy. we have warranty on our car and i know if we sold it on the private market infiniti has to honor it for the term -- as long as of course we did not modify anything - but that would void our warranty too!

But thanks for the info on the lady hawk. I am going to purchase it.

LadyHawk is a great BC with standard inflator or Air 2. I have used both on mine. No difference, it's just personal preference. Your local dive shop can fix it the way you want it to be.

if you are purchasing from a private seller it is not "brand new", might have never got wet,but was previously owned ..for the inflator, you get what you see. This person selling it purchased product with air 2,he/she would not have been given a standard inflator. If this was a dive shop it is no big deal to remove the air 2 and replace with standard scubapro inflator, and sell the bcd to you at a lower price to reflect the change.,
scubapro will not honor any warranty as it has been sold to you as "used" from its former owner.Warranty is only for original owner and non transferrable. I hope the price is right for you, if truly new, it should be no more than 1/2 of what a new one purchased from an authorized dealer would charge you. When we sell gear to a customer here at Scuba New York, we have other benefits that should be considered by the customer. Things like the warranty and future service, proper fit , plus we have our own in house pool that you can try it out in and use the pool whenever you feel you need to get some pool time in, at no charge. Purchase elsewhere and pool time will cost you. This alone reduces the value of purchasing used/previously owned at a rate close to what it is new from an authorized dealer. A new scubapro inflator costs about $60. plus you will need a new inflator hose, cost of that about $38, So already this "new" used bcd will cost an additional $98.+tax to set it up the way you wish. Is the money invested in this now close to what a authorized dive shop will sell it to you?

Congrats on your purchase. My wife has a Ladyhawk and loves hers. She has been diving it now for 5 or 6 years I think. Great BC. I wouldn't worry to much about the warranty. I suppose anyone could get a product that could give them a problem but I have been diving nothing but ScubaPro BC's for over 21 years and have never ever had a problem with one. They are of excellent quality and I would be shocked if you ever have a problem with it.

My wife has the Air II as do I on all the SP BC's I have owned and love it but if that's not your thing then you may be able to trade or sell your Air II for a std inflator so getting one shouldn't cost you any more.

Why not just leave the air 2 on the setup and put your octopus on the first stage as well. The Air2 has the inflate/deflate capability of a standard inflator as well as being a back up second stage. You may get to like the Air 2 and use as your back up instead of an octopus, anyway. You would certainly be more streamlined. A standard inflator should be pretty cheap and a BC is robust, so I would not worry too much about warranty issues. Even though the BC may not be brand new, as long as it does not leak air from the valves, there is not much that will go wrong for several years that cannot be fixed inexpensively.
