If you are planning on going into doubles and/or technical diving, just go ahead and get the bp/w now to save yourself some headache and cash in the long run.

I hadn't planned on moving to technical diving and bought a Knighthawk as my first BC. Loved the BC, but then I had to sell it and buy a bp/w in order to move towards the direction I wanted to for my diving.

Go for the BP/W, you will not be sorry (IMHO). I recently switched and cannot believe the difference in trim. Also, my son came to visit me and used my jacket BC for several dives then asked if he could try my BP/W kit. After two dives with my kit he asked why anyone would dive anything else. I love my BP/W

It's best to by your second set of gear first.

Knighthawk is a great bc and yes you can use it with doubles however I would only use it with a single tank. backplate and ss bands work much better with doubles. If you know you are going to dive doubles in the future just get the bp/w now. Buy only one bc that will work great for everything. If you were only ever planning on diving with a single tank than either would work great.

I dive the Knighthawk, among other BC's I own, and would like a little more info on the doubles set-up...what's the "kinda sorta" issues with doing doubles with it? I'm contemplating the BP/W myself, but need to sell some gear first ;)...I get the BP/W is a better all around set-up, but if those who have dove doubles can elaborate on how the Knighthawk worked out I'd appreciate the info

JMHO, but I dived a Knighthawk for years and it was a good BCD, but I just needed too much weight to sink it and the trim of a BP/W is much better. I mostly just dive in warm water, and a SS BP with a small 17# DSS wing is like diving with nothing on. The tank is way more secure on the BP and the trim is perfect, if I want to dive in colder water I'd just use a bigger wing and still get the better trim characteristics, too easy.
