First, I just want to thank all the ScubaPro experts here for all of the great information in the DIY archives. I've been wanting to ask a question for a while, but every time I have a question I find a detailed answer in the archived threads. I have always worked on my own car and own home, so it just seems natural that I would service my own SCUBA equipment. So far I've rebuilt a 109, a couple of Balanced Adjustables and two MK10's. I'm getting ready to start on a MK20 and G250 for my wife. I have been acquiring some parts when I can and so far have been able to identify most using factory schematics, but I still don’t know what the numbers mean. It seems that the first two numbers refer to the type of part and the middle might refer to the model regulator it’s used on, but would appreciate any information you might provide. I recently acquired a few NOS 1st Stage springs #10-101-002, are these for MKI/MkV?

Thanks for any help,

Thanks for the information axxel. I thought I had looked at a MK V schematic but maybe I overlooked it or the number was revised. I'll probably just hold on to them in case I accidentally pick up a MK V some day.

Different versions of schematics will often show different part numbers as a design evolves. The more current Mk5 schematics show a 01.020.101 but this older version of a Mk7 (same guts as Mk7) shows your part number: http://www.scubaproregulatormuseum.org/MK_7_LATE_MODEL.JPG

Thanks for the link awap. Are the dates on Scubapro parts manufacture/use by dates? The springs I have are dated 92/02, though I can’t see why an unused spring would only have only a 10 year shelf life.

I doubt if there is any shelf live consideration on the metal parts. I guess Scubapro (and other manufacturer) part numbers are a mystery that are not meant for us to understand. I have come across a few small batches of parts with no clue of p/n involved. For the most part, I have decided if it fits and works, it should be OK. If part numbers were really critical from a safe operation standpoint, the p/n would not be hand written on a plastic bag by the guy stuffing and stapling those bags. If it were really important, there would be some identification right on the part like with a spark plug or an oil filter.

It just occurred to me that 92/02 might just be February 1992 if the parts are made in Europe.
