I just grab the used MK25s and try to get it clean. I can’t unscrew (counter clock) the DIN at all. I did all my best grip power though… The retainer part never moved out….Of course, I have been using 7mm socket.
What is the matter with this reg?

In addition, do you put the O-rings in the ultrasonic cleaner?

The retainer should be torqued to 22 ft pounds. It should not be hard to remove unless it has been over torqued or unless the threads are corroded.

I'd take it back to where you had it serviced last - if it's corroded and you had it serviced within the last 12-13 months, they'll take care of any parts that are damaged in the removal process. If you do it yourself and damage something, you are going to be paying for the service and the new parts. To do it right and get it loose you need a padded vice as well as the allen socket.

I don't normally clean o-rings, I replace them with new ones.

Assuming you do not have an LDS on the hook to be responsible for this, then go to the hot - cold treatments to break the corrosion & deposits on thjose threads. Soak between treatments. Place the whole reg in hot water and get it hot. Slip it into the vise with the DIN connector pointing upward and set a small ice cube on the top of the Din connector. You are trying to get the maximum temperature differential between the reg body and the DIN connector. Let the ice cube do its thing for a couple minutes and then try to move the fitting. If you can't move it with no more than about 30 ft lb of torque, give it a soak for a while and then try again. You might want to initially try a couple hot - cold treatment cycles with a short soak in between to get some water down into those threads. Or use the vinegar/water soak between treatments but plan on replacing all o-ring that take the bath - not a bad idea anyway.

Thanks for your tip. I will try it today. Since this is a DIY forum, I never intend to bring these spare regs (I bought the used ones from the board members) to my LDS that doesn't know what they are doing.

As you may remember, I have almost all ScubaPro tools that cost about $500. So, I would like to use my tools instead of paying another penny to LDS.

I will let you know how it goes.... I still have a couple of question.

Thanks all tips. Finally, I disassembled and completed the annual service, 125psi, and o2 clean even with the ultrasonic cleaner… Like I said, these are the used first stages and needed to be checked out before hitting the water.

However, I brake one washer, part #01060500 from SP MK25TA Schematic (Don’t ask how it happened :) ). Is there any way to get this part by mail or internet? Sorry, I can’t drive three hours for this one.
