Don't know how I stumbled on to this site but WOW. This is cool. Let me introduce myself properly. My name is Jeanie, married to Scott. We are both 46 and have been diving for over 6 years. I never got to go anywhere cool before we started diving. Now, I can hardly wait between trips. We are planning on going to Belize sometime before end of May. Still gathering data and comments for that trip. May do the liveaboard and then stay on one of the Cays. Does anyone know if the sand bugs are also in Belize like they where in Roatan? We are Rescue Diving certified and avid underwater photographers. I use Olympus 4040 and Scott will be trying out his new Olympus 5050 on this trip. There is no better way than digital. Go back to the room and download to laptop. That's about all for now. Keep talking! There are people listening that will love to give you their opinions!

And welcome to SB. :wavey: Put us in your Favorites and check in often.

Haven't been to Belize yet. Going in June, so I hope you'll tell us about your trip when you get back. I'm expecting biting bugs of all kinds, and I'll keep my DEET spray handy - in my room and in my dive bag - so I can spray again everytime I get dry. Mosquitoes and the diseases they carry in Central America are more of a concern to me.

HI Scubajeanie:
Welcome to you, and Scott.
I'm so glad you found us!
I have been to Belize. It was also in May. There were no sand flees, but there were mosquitoes. Be sure to bring lots of bug spray. You can do a search at the top of the page by putting in the word Belize. Tons of info and trip reports will come up.
Have a great time. It's a wonderful place.

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your SI here. Lots of neat people and tons of good info...

Thanks for the welcome! I have a friend that just got back from Costa Rica. They took several immunizations before they left. Can't wait to hear about their trip on Tuesday at work. They also did the "canopy tour". Does anyone have any understanding about how those work? It's like platforms above the tree line and you have a cable that you ride from platform to platform. Just hope it all holds!

Hello Jeanie and welcome from a fellow Midwest diver.

Many people have "stumbled onto this site" and then decided to join the discussion at some point. I include myself in that camp.

Have fun in Belize.

welcome aboard!!
