Another way to support this site would be to GO RED .
I have been RED for 4 years now and feel that my annual dues are well worth it.

True dat! I went red and don't regret it :)

I've met a lot of great dive buddies through Scubaboard and I think this sort of lawsuit sets a really bad precedent so I donated without hesitation. I'll donate again if it becomes necessary.

i would say what i think about this ...but i'm to scared...it just aint right!

Hello
I would like to help giving to the defense fund but I do not send money over the computer. Is there a way to send a check through the mail to help? If so would someone post that information?

thank you
Wayne

Daily Legal Disclaimer: InterMedia Publications, operating the site ScubaBoard - Scuba Forums, Articles, Dive Buddies, Social Network - Equipment and Travel is indeed being sued by Maldives Scuba Divig PVT Ltd and Gundi Holm (maldivesliveaboards) along with 1-100 Does.

You may read the entirety of the complaint here: http://gundisuit.scubaboard.com/

My statement: We will aggressively defend ourselves from this suit and any invasion of privacy.

I won't comment on these subjects (and possibly others):

  • Which users are being sued.
  • Suitability of the action against InterMedia Publications.
  • Specifics of our defense.
  • A dollar amount of the monies raised.
If you ask me a question and I don't answer it, it probably falls under "other". If you need to verify this, my phone number is (407) 509-0947.

All monies collected and deposited into our Legal defense fund will be used for just this case. We will offer to return any unused portion (if there IS any) and you can accept or reject the offer. To use PayPal or any major CC, just hit any of the "Donate" buttons you see around. If you need to send a check

Please put "Legal Defense" in the for column.

As I understand it going Red helps fund the continuation of ScubaBoard, but donating to the new fund goes directly into helping the board defend against this attack.

There is a Paypal donate button for this fund below and in the signature line of many members.

That makes sense, can we confirm this as I was going to go red but would prefer to donate directly to this instead

Also could someone clarify the case vs scubaboard vs the case of people who posted on scubaboard, or is it the same thing?

Thanks

Info on this page might be of interest to ScubaBoard's operators and their lawyers.Ripoff Report:

Because of ripoffreport.com's basic purpose, I would expect it to be the target of many lawsuits. They claim, however, that they've only been sued about 20 times, and so far, have never lost a case in US courts. If the information on their page is correct, ScubaBoard itself probably would not be held responsible for the content of its posters' comments, but users could still be liable for the content of their own posts.
