Anyone know if Anthony's Key collects school supplies for the children of Roatan? CoCoView was asking divers that had room in their luggage to bring school supplies when I was there 2 years ago.


They have not asked us to do anything other than enjoy the resort.

I believe they all face the water or are over the water. I would give Al at Bay Adventures a call, maybe he could help more since he would know exactly which room you are in.

Yes because of the logistics of placement being on a hillside the hillside rooms face the water But for example the standard hillside room I was in, the canopy foliage was such you did not get any kind of panoramic type view just small glimpses thru the leaves. One advantage of the hillside rooms is quick access to the restaurant. What I did being an early riser, was walk to the restaurant and drink my morning coffee with this view usually before anyone else arrived. Very relaxing




For those going on the shark dive I thought I would post this cut down version of a video I posted much earlier

A quick summery first you motor from Anthoneys around the west end of the island to the south side Where Cara cara Point is.

The Boat anchors and depending on how stiff the current is, and how strong a swimmer, you can descend or you can hand over hand down the anchor line. To a reef face that at fist you will be backing up to. The sharks start coming in and circling good photo opt ! because they come quite close Then after the dive master monitors the mood he will signal for you to be able to go free swim around with the sharks. Then after a period of time he will signal you to return to reef face . He will then take the bucket out a ways and pop the lid and toss it at which point the feeding frenzy begins but it is over pretty quick. Then you will return to the boat
One thing I would remind people is pay attention to your breathing and air usage. While at no time did I feel threatened, being as this was only my 12th ocean dive ever I was like a kid at x-mas and was so excited I sucked down my air and had to leave right after the feeding, so I did not get any chanced to look for teeth (which I should have done on the free swim) and boarded the boat with a bit over 100 lbs.

Not sure if I missed this discussion earlier in the thread, but will a 3mm shorty be warm enough? When we dove Cozumel (in November) the 3mm shorty was perfect; the water was incredibly warm.

Any ideas of general (water) temps during our stay?

I dove the week in my 1mm two weeks ago on Utila. Water temp was 80-81. Roatan is a 20 minute puddle jump away.
