Eduardo, my girlfriend is big into researching everything there is to do where ever it is we are going and when I mentioned Maui Revealed to her she said that was the one she was already reading. She had a list half a page long of good places to snorkel.

Homer,

For goodness sake, please do not buy one of those ridiculous dive knives that look like they are designed to be carried by a thug in a dark alley. Dive knives are tools, and need not be designed for combat (or be very large). :)

Keep it simple....

Unless you run into a gang of sharks like in West Side Story, or a bad guy that wants to cut your air hose, or a giant squid that is intent on crushing the dive boat into splinters. I generally agree though, 14" and three pounds should be adequate for most situations. :D

What are some good websites that I can order masks/snorkels/fins etc. from? Thanks.

You need to buy your first mask in person. There are a bunch of slightly different shapes. If you don't get the right one, it's going to leak. All the time.

Getting the right one means you'll be able to enjoy all your dives.

Getting the wrong one means you'll become the world's best mask purger.

Unfortunately, there's no way to find the right mask without trying it on.

Welcome to the board Preston :)
I will second the suggestion of Scuba Toys ..If they have what your looking for, I would get it from them .. they will price match + give you a ScubaBoard discount ... and most of all, I don't think you'll find a nicer place, or people to do business with .. Larry is always offering help and suggestions here on the board

And of course I can't not mention that I know of a place to get high quality pink gear ... http://thinkpinkscuba.com/ :jump:

Visibility Unlimited also sells snorkel and scuba equipment. Look on website www.visibilityunlimited.com and call Cathy she is great and with help with what you need. I am getting certified this weekend. I searched prices on the internet and she beat them all and is the most knowledgable person I met. My fiance and I bought our snorkel gear from a dive shop and our scuba gear from her. She beat the other price by $600.

I bought a Splendive mask from my LDS---fit perfectly. And it just happens to be pink. Am not a pink-a-holic, but pink does look good with dark hair & eyes!! Have your girlfriend try this mask on if she hasn't already. Also bought the matching flex snorkel (yes, in pink). Cheers, Kel
