Ok... Here is another dumb question about the cargo trailer...

If you pull the cargo trailer, 6x10 foot, through your SUV or truck, the trailer should be checked by the Highway Trasport Patrol regulary on the highway?

Why would the Highway Transport Patrol want to inspect a personally owned trailer????

I am not an expert on this but I am willing to bet that so long as you don't cross certain hazmat lines (explosives for instance) and aren't a comercial transport company, you don't have much to worry about.

I see....

Hmm~~~~I am wondering what if the trailer contains the T sized oxygen and He bottles, compressor, 4 double sets, and four deco bottles inside?

I think it would have to be inspected then because of the HE and O. Also you would probably have to carry the proper signage on the trailor. I know if you are carrying a certain amount of compressed air you have to have a permit of some type.

Nope, still personal trailer, on personal business. If you're not transporting as a commercial carrier, HTP doesn't care about you. As to the "T" bottles, you have to have over 1001 pounds OF PRODUCT (I think that number is correct) to require hazmat placards.

I'm not an expert on this by far, but alot of divers use the smaller "U-haul" like trailers to transport their dive gear among other things, but i'd have to agree that as long as the "contents" do not pose a significant threat to other motorists (like caustic chemicals, explosive materials, or accellerants like tanks of pure O2), then you should be ok. Otherwise, i'd definately check the laws concerning the transport of such materials which will probably include the need for a manifest and outside labeling of the contents. But for a few tanks of compress 21%/79% air I doubt that would really cause a problem.

hello to answer your question the only time you have to go through a check station is if you are going through states that require you to, not for local travel. if you are going from fl to kentucky for example there is a agricultural check station witch requires all trailers and box truck to be check my highway patrol for live stock being crossed state lines. they check all trailers and box trucks you do not have to hit the weight stations though. but for medical o2 you dont have anthing to worry about because its not a hazerdus materal neither is compressed air in the privete class you may need to check from state to state but most states have the same regs. on this. i as well have a 12x6 dive trailer and i pull it from kentucky to fl 90% of the time i dont stop and nothin is dont about it because its a privet trailer and they dont really expert people to know it they just push commeral but it doesnt hert to stop id you have dive gear. but not and i stay not at the weight stations you have to stop at the agr. stations. you can check state laws on the internet most states have a home page with road laws
