I don't have a 'real' hanger

I guess by real hanger you mean one that was made for a wetsuit or drysuit. I do not either. I have some think plastic hangers that I just cut the noodle lengthwise on one side and then a hole just big enough to fit the hook part of the hanger through on the other side, and presto now you have a wetsuit or drysuit hanger. You just have to make sure that what ever type of platic hanger that you use is think enough not to break under the weight of a wetsuit or drysuit.

Yep, that's what I meant by real hanger. I don't have any plastic hangers that fit the bill - hence the sprinkler pipe. In addition to the strength issue a dry suit hanger needs a bit of a longer neck owing to the neck seals.

Has anybody made a scuba tank holder to hold the tank(s) in your car to keep them from rolling around?

I have seen a couple of designs commercially available and it looks like something I could make out of plywood or foam.

One design holds two tanks and is made of foam. The foam is 19.75" x 6" x 2.125"

Another design is a triangle with a circle in the middle. I think I could cut that out of plywood.

Has anyone already made these or have any other ideas?

I usually hold the tanks down in my trunk with a cargo net but I got a new car that doesn't have a place for a net.

I bought some 2 inch PVC pipe, cut it into 12" lengths and drilled two holes all the way through each piece near the top and bottom and strung them up with nylon rope.

The whole thing probably cost about 10 bucks and works great.

The easiest way to do this is to become an instructor and then have your divemasters ride in the trunk to cushion your tanks. They will also be responsible for loading and unloading them so you're freed to do instructor stuff and just look cool.
This way when you're not diving, you don't have an ugly tank rack in your trunk or garage.
Make sure that none of your divemasters have leprosy though in case they get sloppy keeping your tanks from rolling.
This is why the 500psi rule is in effect so they can crack the valve on long hauls and get that O2 level back in the double digits.

My dive buddy has made something similiar to yours and it works
great also. No rolling around of tanks in the back.

Aye it's good stuff. A friend of mine copied mine and used it. I got the idea from the owner of our LDS. It's much cheaper than buying the premade version for like 30 bucks.
