The amount of vendors there makes it worth going right off that bat. I went last year and I was amazed with how many people were there. With the amount of vendors they have there im suprised the show is only two days. Anyways I know its gonna be a blast I hope I see you all there!!!!!

I felt it was worth it but I live locally. There always a large number of divers and vendors there along with a ScubaBoard booth where you can meet many of the members.

In addition, many of us are going to Invade Catalina the following weekend.
Invade Catalina Ideas (2009)

Maybe even a few gear companies will hang around and join us as well!

You must be talking about the Travel show...............errr...........the scuba show. Every year the number of scuba booths goes down and the amount of scuba travel booths goes up. Great show if you want to book a scuba trip but not for scuba products. Did you know last year you could NOT buy any scuba gear off the floor (any gear that was going to get wet)? If you wanted something you had to go to their shop or order online. Never got that. Just my opinion.

Maybe at some of the manufacturers booths where their products were only sold through dealers. But there plenty of people there selling gear and at some pretty good discounts.

Sure the travel booths were there but they help make the whole show affordable to us the smaller vendors.

I go for the comraderie... and the travel specials. Enjoy it and have been going for years. See LOTS of dive friends there.

Nope, At the pacific wilderness booth you could NOT buy any product off the floor if it was going into the water (BC, regs, comnputers, cylinders, etc.). Can anyone at Pac Wild explain why this is? You had to go to their shop. This was just one example as many booth could not directly sell to you. This was an agreement worked out by the convention center and the retail staff. Now, there were certain items you could buy but the line was never clear as to what you could and could not buy. I completly uinderstand the manufactures having to sell through their dealers but the others, why? As for the travel booths, it's just too much for me. but that's just one opinion as many do enjoy the booths. All that said I'll still go and have a ball. dive safe!!

Scuba Show is not a diminutive version of DEMA. I have no problem with a show that has a large part of its focus on dive travel. I enjoy gathering literature on sites I may add to my "bucket list." Now I have to find a banker's show open to the public where they give out free samples... say $1,000 bills (at a minimum).

Just for clarification, we do allow a large variety of items to be bought at the show. There are a few items that cannot be bought and carried from the show floor and this is done to protect the safety of each individual diver. Most of the manufacturers and retailers agree that items such as BC's and regulators should only be distributed though a learning facility where a variety of self-regulated safety checks can occur (Verification of a c-card, etc.). We want to promote safety in our sport and would hate to hear of a non-qualified diver walking out of our show with an item they are not properly trained to use.

This is done not only at our show, but at all the other consumer shows across the country.

We hope to see you at our show, we have a wide variety of exhibitors, seminars and films for any diver to enjoy.
