Looking to buy regs dive shop says go with the mk25/s600 this is around planned spending. Just got certified last week and need some advice on these regs.

HI BigK

The Scuba Pro Mk25 and S600 are fantastic top of the line first & Second stage.
I bought my wife a set two months ago she has done around 20 dives on them, and I have also completed 10 dives on them.

They breath really well at all depths I have taken them to 130ft so far and they where fantstic nice and light and so easy to breath with plenty of air and a very low cracking pressure.

They are easy to get serviced, and easy to change between the Yoke and DIN fittings.

Overall a top of the line Reg that will give you all the air you need at any depth.

Best of luck with your purchase.
If you ave any specific questions on them let me know.

What are you planning for a computer and Octo ?
Have a look at the uwatec Computers they are very nice

First - welcome to the board! South East where - this is after all a global board.....

I have Mk20/S600 and very happy with it.

Saw recently scubapro had 75 divers on a Mk25 with R190 for a new world record - that's got to be hard to beat so I am sure slapping their top of the range S600 will be a dream.

Only possible disappointment may be the price you pay. I suggest you shop around to determine what you are happy paying. And if you run into the warrenty arguement, remember you are buy a very reliable piece of equipment that is very unlikely to require expensive servicing. And the annual service required to maintain the warrenty is unnecessary if you take care to keep water out of where it shouldn't be. I've disassembled and clean my Mk20 twice in 4 years without using any new parts. In that same time I retuned my G500 once. I expect both to make 5 years before I do a complete replacement of "annual service" parts.

When you do buy your s600...dive it for the first time with a buddy. My friends and I have gone through...three of those regs now I think. They had a serious problem with the first stages and were guarnteed to free flow like a mother starting at 70ft.

Scubapro serviced them of course...but after having so much bad luck with them, we don't even use them anymore.

It's funny actually...everyone clamors and wishes to pay 500-600 bucks for this top of a line scubapro...when you can shell out $350 for a poseidon that'll whup it.

Of course...that's just opinion. But hey.

I've never had any problems with my MK25/S600 or any other 1st or 2nd stage ScubaPro makes. Never had a freeflow either. I think they make outstanding regs...my all time favorite regs acually. I think that a lot of problems people have with regs is due to the people that service them...most of them don't know what they are doing.

The MK25/G250 is almost exactly the same as the MK25/S600 but around $120 or so cheaper. A D400 or a 550 might not be a bad idea either.

I totally Agree with the below they are a fantastic Reg
I have never had any problems with Scubapro, never had one free flow.

Omicron Where did you get this information from, I have never heard of a MK25 free flowing, Ever ?

I've had mine down over 100' and no freeflow. It breathed like I was on the surface with nothing in my mouth.

I love mine and have had zero trouble with it.

We had three of the regs...brand new...and took them all down to depth. Free flows abounded. We took them into our LDS and they told us we were nuts. They tuned them, serviced 'em, all that good stuff. Then, we took 'em down again, and had more dives ruined. Eventually, they shipped the regs to Scubapro, and had to replace springs in the first stage - apparently (according to the LDS) it was a severe rebuild and the first problem like this that Scubapro had ever had...

Anyway...we eventually got the regs back, but now only use them as secondary's. Not a chance in hell we'll trust them as our main regs.

Holy words man... and if the water is cold mk20 is not racomended... seen and heard too many freeflows due to freezing in my opinion they are good regs for warm water- shallow dives, but when thing go harder get a Poseidon or an Apeks, much more reliable... but are just opinions
