I tend to agree the seat cannot be flipped over - there may be rubber on the other side, but it is very thin and won't provide a seal.

I tried flipping one (against very competent advise) and it did not work worth a damn. I could see very shallow mold marks on the reverse side but gave it a try anyway. Bottom line was I did get it to seal but it took quite a bit of spring pressure and it was not as breathable as a poorly tuned $59.95 octo.

If you inspect that seat with a magnifying glass you'll find that one side has a backing; it's like they were cut out of neoprene or nitrile sheets that had a stiffener material bonded to one side. At least all the D series seats I've seen were like that.

I've never seen a fully plastic poppet like that other one, and I kind of hope I don't again.

In your photo the dive/predive spring is oriented like my D300s (or at least the one I just looked at) so my guess is that you're looking for the earlier lever. If you have all sorts of time on your hands and are a true glutton for DIY punishment you could try to make one.

This seat ( out of metal poppet) is solid rubber. There is no plastic backing. The front and back are indistinguishable from each other except one has a groove cut into it from the hard seat.
Even upon close inspection with a magnifing glass I cant see any difference.
I suspect this is an out of the ordinary seat?

So how many different levers are there, 3?
D300?
Late D350?
D400 mounted the other way to other D series?

Edit : Found schematics and yes there are 3 different levers. 300, 350 and 400.

There are 4 levers, the D300 lever, the D350 lever and two styles of D400 lever.

It's different than the ones I've seen. If it works, great. Let us know!

I've never seen a plastic poppet on any of mine (and I agree with mattboy that I don't want to see another one!). I've also never seen a seat that could be flipped, but maybe Packhorse has got something special. Of course, those seats don't have to be changed too often, but if we could find a supplier for flippable seats..... :D
