Ya'll are missing the reason. Compressed air/gas is addictive. Yup, just like other narcotics. Proven fact. I don't know who did the proof and I haven't seen or heard of it but I'm pretty sure it must be!

I started diving in 1996 and after I got started I would take as many vacations a year to get "wet". Living in Pennsylania at the time, and not being into cold water diving it got expensive. Last year I moved to Key Largo so I could do more diving!! Talk about a die hard!
Now if I go a week without diving (because of work) I get fidgity.

I'm a confirmed warm water wimp unfortunately geographically challenged from such conditions at the current time. Yet I find myself so desperate for a fix that I actually contemplate diving in a <gasp> reservoir wearing <gulp> neoprene just so I can get wet.
OH NO! I must stop this... whatever can I do? Oh thank heavens, I'll be on the Nekton Rorqual in 12 days... I think I can last that long. Maybe.

Wow, you are my hero. I love diving off of Jersey, but living in the Keys is becoming my number one diving dream.
I tend to get a bit figity and cranky after a couple weeks of not diving. Luckily I was able to get to the quarry last weekend. I've got dives scheduled up here through November and then it will be touch and go with the weather this winter. Thank god for a drysuit. I don't know if I could go 3 or 4 months without diving anymore.

Man, you are a die hard. I would love to move to the Keys, and it's not that far a move for me. By the time I can afford to move there, prices will probably be through the roof (as if they're not, already). I'll get there one day.

Scuba is really making an impact on my life and money. I no longer hang around my bowling friends any longer. I have lost a passion for bowling. Now it is time to dive. Every weekend this year, I have been in some body of water. Living near Chicago means this winter will really bite... I want to take road trips to Panama City for the weekend just to dive. However, my wife and dive buddy, doesn't share the same passion. Looks like I will be at the bonne mines in MO this winter. How do you northern divers handle the winters ?
Aww, that's simple.
Right around January, when it has been about 8 weeks from our last dive. (Yes we dive in November, it's still water at that time...mostly)
We get together and, using chain saws (big chain saws), we cut a large hole in the 3 foot (1 metre) thick layer of ice, set up a tent over the hole, and dive under the ice.
MMmmmmm Fresh!
The water is crystal clear, and you get neat pictures of divers standing on the ice upside down, with the bubbles floating around their feet.
Some brave few will even dive in wet suits! Like me!
The water temp is the same as in the summer below the thermal (35f), it's just the AIR temp (-10f to -20f) that will freeze you in 30 seconds when you get out. This will explan the frantic all out panic run for the warm up shack, the moment you climb out of the water. As well as the laughter rising up from the "dry suit" divers. It's all fun, and helps with our addiction up here in the north.

Also have been afflicted with the disease. I'm just glad I'm fortunate enough to have begun my diving here on Okinawa. Dive spots everywhere don't have to drive more than 5 minutes to find a good one. What a great place.

I'm moving to the keys in August. Talk about unbelievable prices, as for the question about how us northern divers live... ice diving is quite refreshing... especially the first 5 minutes when you aren't using a full face mask... :shakehead
So, what is the problem? Sounds like you're having fun!
