Hi Guys & Girls
As for next yeay I will be in need of Scuba insurance, I will be participating in scientific diving and requirements are strict, never been insured before and wish to know is there a good recognised European / world insurer ?

DAN may be more expensive than some local dive insurances, but I never hear that somebody had issue with it in any place.

Your post is lacking a lot of detail. Whereabouts in Europe? Europe has many countries, languages and different legal systems. What are the circumstances of the diving you will be doing? Scientific suggests you may be in an 'at work' situation which may not be covered by a general recreational diving policy.

I wouldn't trust DAN Europe. A mate of mine had a diving related issue and it took a lot of work from her (and a load of other people) to get her back to the UK. I believe it was nearly a month before DAN even attempted to arrange land transport back to the UK. I believe there were a lot of ignored phone calls and emails on DAN's end.

Hello Mustard Dave
Situation resolved, after consulting my future colleagues I have learnt that Aquamed (German based) is acceptable and many of the participants have it.
Quite right, very vague, I will be working in underwater archaeology which I have been training for all year, very interesting.
For those who are interested I will leave a link below of one of the projects.

This.

In my part of Europe, an 'at work' situation puts the responsibility for insurance on the employer, not the employed. Also, a recreational diving insurance policy will specifically not cover an 'at work' situation. I'm a little surprised that this isn't the case throughout EU.

As it is a volunteer based project there is no `` employer ´´ and only insured & certified divers may apply.
