Nice post FrankPro1!
Would you mind describing the logistics of going to Scorpion Anchorage? Such as:
Weight limits on the boat ride
Gear limits
Distance from landing to campsite(s)
Campfires are allowed?
Did you take your own kayak or did you rent?
Thanks -
Greg
Weight limits on the boat ride: Island Packers
Santa Cruz Island for Hiking, Snorkling, Kayaking and Camping They want no individual bag heavier then 45lbs. "They are lenient on the 45lb limit, but don't push it and try to bring a 90lb rig. Coolers that stay on top deck are not weighed.
Gear limits: Unlimited amount of bags, coolers, etc. etc. No inflatable boats/rafts, surfboards or outboard motors.
Distance from landing to campsite(s): 1/2-1.5 miles from pier "dependent on location within campground"
Campfires are allowed?: No campfires allowed on island. Propane grills/stoves are ok. Smoking is allowed only at pier / cobblestone beach.
Did you take your own kayak or did you rent?: Our group does both. Some rent, some bring there own. You can rent them here:
Rentals They are located right next door to Island Packers.
