I just finished another Alistair Reynolds novel, "Pushing Ice".

The moon Janus breaks out of orbit, heading out of the solar system under its own power. Her icy cover begins to break away, revealing machinery of alien origin, and the only ship close enough to investigate is an asteroid mining ship, which is quickly commissioned to follow and investigate.

Great adventure with plenty of speculation on relativity, the viability of the human species, and encounters with alien cultures that definitely don't conform to the cliche.

Great film material.

Sounds like a great movie script!

I was trying to think of another novel I really enjoyed reading and did a search on it,
appears it will be a movie yet!

Rendezvous with Rama

I wonder if Hollywood could do a re-make of Forbidden Planet that could even come close to the origional?

I wonder where Robby is these days?

Rendevous with Rama was a good one.

I'd go see it regardless of any negative reviews... I've never seen a bad sci-fi film, just a few I enjoyed a little less than the others. FB's concepts have been copied time after time in the sci-fi genre, without so much as a nod. I think a quality remake might help people see what a prize it truly is, although, if it comes out cast with Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller, I might just wait for it On Demand or DVD.

Ring World

Afraid to admit it as a youngster I watched Space 1999, I would love to see a high budget cool special affects movie based on that series

ABC, of all networks, is starting a new scifi show. Based on the description I read, it looks to be based on short stories & one of the ones described sounds like one of Heinlein's old shorts. I rarely watch ABC at all, so I'll have to pay attention to when this starts & see if it turns out any good.

A decent version of Riverworld. Or Aldiss' Helliconia trilogy.
