What another beautiful day. Four of us dove the N. Augusta Boat ramp today. Max depth was 18' and dive time was 1:37. A bit of boat traffic today so vis near the shoreline was not as good (waves from the jet skiers washing the banks). We began our dive across to the GA side moving north, vis was low as some looked for bottles. I was more focused on marine life today - nice 3' eel, 30lb cat, nice bass, lots of sunfish. Vis near the GA shore was only 8' due to the waves. After a bit we moved to the middle of the river - remarkable difference with vis 15-20' - then to the
SC side (still great vis). It reminds me a little of diving the Santa Fe River at Ginnie, only with clear non tinited water and no-minimal plant life. This part of the river is in the fall line. There are large boulders, mostly rock or rock with a bit of sand bottom, rock ledges up to 5' high. Made for interesting diving. I counted 8 eels, several bass, crawdads, assorted sunfish, and other fish. Great day of diving.

Your braver then I. Glad you had fun. Any pictures? How was the current? I too have been in the Sante Fe and found it quite interesting.

Very slow current today. Not really a challenging dive. One of our divers is a lady diver and she was the most pumped up about the dive. She does get aggressive in her bottle hunting though :D. You could swim upriver in the middle of the river and not really notice you were in a current. I was thinking, with these conditions, a great spot for new divers.
