Hi Andrew,

If you want to go on a weekend, you probably have to make a reservation, since the park only allows 15 buddy teams in every day. You can check the calendar for free days and sign up here: http://pt-lobos.parks.state.ca.us/. You can typically show up on a weekday without a reservation; just pay the fee at the gate and drive in.

You need to have a buddy with you (no solo diving at Lobos) and you must have your c-card to gain entrance to the park.

Good luck, it's a great place to dive!

yeah thats what i thought, i cant take off much time during week. would you say colder month better time to dive there? perhaps november - december time frame?

Visibility is usually great during winter in between storms. It is recommended to reserve 1-2 months ahead of time though.

You just have to sync the storm schedule with your dive schedule then you'll be set

We had good luck last winter with flat water on weekends and storm on weekdays. The year before that was bad. Flat all week long then a storm rolls in on Friday/Sat/Sun then flat again on Monday :(

To sync the storm schedule is the tough part. Its just part of the game.

It's easy... What ever days I put in for Lobos reservations will be when the storms roll in :shocked2:

Break Water, two dives:

dive one 7 feet viz very surgy...

dive two 12 feet viz intermittant surge with spots of relative calm...

Mendocino. Friday seas less than 3 feet, visibility 0-3' on the bottom and 3-12' near the surface. Saturday 6' seas and same low vis.

We were down in Pacific Grove to watch a friend in the PG triathlon that was going on - the seas were NOT looking diver friendly. Paula H. was out that morning and said the viz at Ballbusters was about 5'. Bleech.
