I'm finally going to purchase a wing for use with my backplate setup. I've borrowed a few different wings...all DiveRite. I didn't really like the way that they all seemed to wrap around my tank (using a STA, BTW).

Realistically I don't see myself into doubles until later. I will be generally be diving with my AL80, Freshwater. I'm not into caving so no overhead currently.

I've seen some good deals on the following:

Oxycheq 45# (NOT the sig. series)
Halcyon 36# Pioneer
and
OMS 45# Banded and NOT Banded.

I'm currently leaning tword the Halcyon 36# Pioneer but have heard good things about the Oxycheq too.
Is one really better than the other (Halcyon vs Oxycheq) or is it a coin toss?

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

JK...There is a thread on page 1 or 2 titled...Help choosing bp/w. There were alot of good things to say about the Oxycheq...May want to "cheq" it out:)

I have a Pioneer 27, I have used an Oxy wing, and a Dive Rite wing. different sizes of all though. If you don't plan on doing the GUE/DIR thing, the Oxy wings are very very nice. I loved the one I used. Quality was very good, it was streamlined, and felt "right" in the water.

You'll do fine with any of these options. For some reason, I don't care for the Dive Rite wings too much myself.

Those are all good wings but for the heck of it, check out ZEAGLE BP/Ws. Had a great write up in Scuba Diving Mag recently.

Just replaced a DiveRite RecWing, 45#s, with and Oxy 30# Signature. Love it!

And, Santa's getting me a Hammerhead SS BP+STA ! ! !

Either the Halcyon 36# or the Oxycheq 30# for the AL80 will work fine for you. I wouldn't go bigger, you'll just end up with potential "air trapping" issues, especially with a smaller cylinder.

Feel free to toss your coin toward either of these... preferably the less expensive one!!

I have an Oxycheq (Sig) and dive with people who have Halycon wings. Both get no complaints from any of us.
