Would anyone have a recent report on STB? I'm thinking of heading that way Saturday Morning and was curious about recent conditions. And some info on how the latest hurricane (Ivan) may effect conditions there? Last I was at STB was about 5 weeks ago. Viz was okay about 12-15ft, since they dumped that sand on the beach viz decresed by at least 5ft minimum.

Thanks for you feedback/report. It's apprecaited.

Being a south shore boy myself, my target location are Brant Rock or SandwichTB right now.

THANKS ALL and be sure to be safe,

Is the sand dumping there a yearly thing they do? let me know how you make out. This sat the wife and I will be going to hampton beach for the seafood festival to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Ohhhh the tent full of lobster rolls and anything else seafood you can think of.

Stew, Give me a call if you plan on heading down there for a dive. I might be up for heading south on Saturday AM.

The sand dumping is not a yearly thing. The Army Corps of Engineers was doing some dredging in the Cape Cod Canal back in June.....and they placed the dredged material on STB to help fight years of beach erosion partially caused by the Canal itself.

Large-D is correct it's a one-time deal to help fight erosion (replace all the sand pulled of the beach over the last 30 years), however the erosion/current is pulling the (newly placed) sand back into the canal causing viz to decrease (small sand molecules in the water start to blur your vision after 15ft orso) But 12-15viz aint too shabby anyway. Just used to be more like 20ft on a nice day, when the beach was all rocky.
