Did 2 dives about a half mile off STB today. Water temp 65, visibilty was 5 to 10 ft. Got no keepers but saw the biggest lobster I've ever seen. I must have spent 15 minutes trying to get him/her out from under the boulder it was under.

Anybody got any cute tricks for getting a stubborn lobster out from under a rock. I've got a lobster stick but this thing was not budging, and this was not one of those where you could stick your hand in and just grab.

Yesterday I saw a lobster under a rock and it didn't see me but when I slowly moved my hand towards it, IT ACTUALLY CAME OUT TO CHECK IT OUT! I'm going to try it again but I don't think it will work if the lobster saw you (unless their short term memory is smaller than the time you are willing to wait).

you can use your light in front of the hole or hand, slow and easy is the trick. The Lobster are just waiting for a tasty meal so they will scoot out a tad to take a look. You have to move fast at this point as they are also aware that they are more vulnerable when they inch out, so their guard is up. Of course the big ones are a bit slower. Every so often you just have to swim away and forget em.

Sometimes if you wave a smaller lobster in front of the hole the big one will come out to challenge it. It's worked for me once.

I found a lobster claw on the floor today and stuck it in the whole with a big lobster. Lobster came out lashing faster than Mike Tyson in round 1 :)
