Reach out to scuba dogs. Look them up on google or the PADI site.

In terms of the wetsuit, when I go there in the winter, the most I ever wear is a 3mm. At times I don't even need that. The diving is not that great in the immediate San Juan area. Perhaps you can go out to Fajardo (about 1-1.5 hours) east.

If you are looking for easy dives in the San Juan area there are two sites you can go. The Escambron Beach Park, (http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/escambron-beach/) here Scuba Dogs has a location (Scuba Dogs, Inc. - Guaynabo - Reviews of Scuba Dogs, Inc. - TripAdvisor - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scuba-Dogs/94852198581#!/scuba.dogs) and they do training there. ( See video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvXVHzBqoPA) Also there is another site behind the now closed Normandie Hotel called Figure 8.. it is about 30 ft deep and that where Caribe Aquatic Adventures -( check their site: SCUBA DIVING SAN JUAN DIVE PUERTO RICO SCUBA EQUIPMENT DIVE CARIBBEAN SCUBA RADISSON NORMANDIE HOTEL CONDADO CARIBE AQUATIC ADVENTURES - PUERTO RICO PADI CARIBBEAN NAUI CARIBBEAN DIVE PACKAGES takes their divers. Is t good for training and fish are use to be feed by divers so take a piece of bread with you. They will be expecting it....

In terms of websuits I just dove in the South ( Guanica) and my 3mm suit was more than enough. See my profile picture.

I live in the US main land but I am Puerto Rican and I just came back from the island in Mar'13. There are also easy shore dives out of Aguadilla but is about 2 hours drive . PM is you have any specfic questions about Puerto Rico... check out this site: Dive West Puerto Rico

Thanks!
