Looks like I will be in the San Diego area in the general span of time between Aug. 31 & Sept. 4. I don't know a thing about the area, but I would really like suggestions on getting a day of diving in. I am traveling with my wife, but I alone as a diver. I would not even consider a solo shore dive while I am there. More likely to go out with an operator for a 2 or 3 tank day trip. Might be able to meet up with a group for a shore dive if there is one meeting; however, I would need to find a location to rent tank, weights and air. I would just really hate to come to the area and leave without sticking my head underwater.

Any other non-diving suggestions of things to see or do in the area and of course restaurant suggestions are welcomed At the moment the only real plans we have are to see the zoo, wild animal park, seaworld, visit the beach, watch the sunsets, possible border crossing, etc.

Hey Jeff, the Lois Ann has almost daily trips out of San Diego. Dive Connections also has boats that go out two to three times per week. To dive wreck alley, it's suggested that you have 10 cold water dives to at least 60 feet in the last six months. The Coronado Islands are a good option if you don't have that level of experience yet.

Here's a nice, recently opened shop in North San Diego with all brand new gear, and where I go to get my Nitrox/Trimix fills: http://www.sduadivers.com/index.html
Otherwise you can rent gear at any nearby Sport Chalet in town. . .

Jut wondering if you got my message about the dive passes I have. I have three to dive connections (value of $80 each) and 3 to Dive Bliss (value $110 each) I will sale them for much less. Let me know if you are interested. My email is everill@hotmail.com. I can list them on ebay or work through paypal or something. Ibought to many while I was in san diego and dont need them
