San Clemente Island is another club favorite! We have several spots available at this time. Plan for 3 dives, and if we time it right, you can get a "night dive" in as soon as the boat is anchored (some may actually make 4 dives if the timing works out). At San Clemente Island you will find the kelp forest is abundant and home to many colorful animals including the Norris top snail and several species of nudibranchs. Word has it that the lobsters are abundant for the bug catchers (although it is also known as the "island of the shorts")! Bat rays, sea lions, horn sharks, swell sharks, schools of blacksmith, black sea bass, and a great many sheephead are among the critters that can be found at San Clemente Island.

A good time and good food was had by all !
The Santa Ana's made for amazingly smooth water and the conditions were very good.

We got there early enough for a night dive with sunrise as the finale. Very cool.
I didn't have a glow stick but those who did saw lobsters galore.

The three other dives were good as well (with many lobsters still curious about intruders.) The surge kicked up for the last dive reducing the vis a bit.

On the way home we followed a Blue Whale giving us quit a show before he left us.

OMG!!! That's GREAT!! Well the weekend shore dive was a not go on Saturday. I was out there early in the morning at Shaw's Cove. The conditions at that time did not look good, so I did not go. I was hoping the Santa Ana were going to stay strong but they died out. Gosh I cant believe you guys got to see a whale on the way back!!! I knew I should have gone......but I am going to Catalina with the Group this weekend.
