I'm not sure about the premise of your post, but the fellas at Light Monkey can also set you up with a 15.6Ah Lithium battery for that canister.
 
Thanks. Was trying to find info on a replacement battery.

I also have the option of trading it in for $500 towards an LED light.

I have the 21W Light Monkey and I like it a lot. It doesn't have the punch that the 21W HID has, but it works well. I've used it in a variety of conditions from Florida caves to wrecks in the 230' deep range in Lake Superior. I've been diving with guys using the 26 LM LED and the 32 LM LED. I had a little light envy, but can't justify the cost to upgrade. Light Monkey's service is top notch.
