Thanks for all of the help folks.

I just got my battery and canister back from batteryspace.com and all I can say is that they did a great job. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I sent them my old battery pack and canister, they they built my new battery pack to the same specs and sent everything back to me. They didn't even charge me shipping in either direction. The new pack fits into the canister perfectly. If anyone else has a Salvo canister light and needs a replacemnt battery, I hightly recommend talking to James at batteryspace. I'm sure he'll set you up properly.

So they built you a replacement LiIon battery? Care to share the cost? I wouldn't mind a photo, either, if possible. :) I may convert my 21w Salvo to LiIon at some point in the future...

Can you take the LiIon battery on an airplane as checked luggage?

I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but how feasible is this upgrade with a 21W HID Halcyon light? I’m thinking I’ll have to replace the battery pack, the charger, and the connectors. For the same burn time the LiIon battery pack will be much smaller, but I guess batteryspace.com can build a bigger pack and I’ll end up with a longer burn time. Is the conversion really this simple or am I missing something major?

It's an older thread that already ran it's course, so hijack away. :)

You don't even need to replace the connectors. New battery, new charger. Charge it up, plug it in. That's it. Switch back and forth all you want (NiMH/LiIon). I almost did this with my Salvo before they went under (direct from them), but ended up buying a second NiMH battery from them instead, due to cash flow issues at the time.

The battery has to be built to precisely the right specs (correct size, correct voltage output for the ballast), however, but other than that, it's a no-brainer.

You can do this through batteryspace if you have all the specs you need, or you can just contact Halcyon (or Light Monkey), who will have all the specs needed on hand.
