I met up with a couple of the Froggies this morning for a dive at Salem Willows. Had never dove the site before, so was interested to see how it was. Air temperature was around 25F, though it felt like about 11F with the wind. Got into the water around noon, water temp was between 34-36F. We swam out parallel to the pier, as well as under it and around the supports. Max depth was 16' at the end of the pier, though average depth was about 8' with the tide going out. Bottom time was 28 minutes. Two of us had to call the dive early due to not enough weight with the drysuits at such a shallow depth. Lots of sea stars, some of them approaching dinner-plate sized. We also saw a wide assortment of garbage that had been flung off the pier, the most exciting being a full fishing rod, a traffic cone, and a bike.

I joined one dive last year at Salem Willows, could not make it this time (Saturdays are not good). I did enjoy the dive and all the Nudibranchs at that time, which was a bit later in the season, but it was indeed too shallow ! I still would have done it again !
