Was there in April of 09.

You need to dive the Blue Grotto, and some of the reefs off the beaches, which are very easy shore dives. Water is very warm, and you can probably get by with a shorty on the coldest days (we dove with shorts, booties, lite gloves for hand protection, and a sun screen T shirt to avoind getting burned).
DO NOT drink the tap water. They have no system to purification, so be aware. If it ain;t bottled, don't chug.
Bad news is you just can't rent gear and go on your own. They have a law/Rule/Ordnance that you must hire a guide to take you, so you have to work that in to the charter price.
I would suggest bringing your own gear if you can. People are very friendly, and the town is prett small. Some cool bars, with cheap beer.
Enjoy!
