Greetings Joe from Stingray Divers on Saipan...there are several dive shops (39) on Saipan, but there is really only one diveshop that primarily caters to the English speaking world, and that's us. If you go to http://www.speedytertle.com, you will notice that they claim to be the only english speaking dive shop on Saipan! I guess that Stingray Divers hasn't been in business for the last 10 years catering to divers from all over the world...I thought about not mentioning their website claims, but you know, I don't blackball them on my website. I think everyone on this board should know this, just as in the past when a diver claimed that we had a bad safety record quickly recanted and apologized, you can look it up here on scubaboard, we play a safe fair game here on island. In fact, I felt kind of good when one of their owners offered our head instructor a job, go figure... Give Cindy at MDA a call, she will recommend both of our shops just as she has for a long time. We recently were chosen by Sport Diver magazine to take them diving, as well as Action Asia and will be hosting National Geographic, Ralph White (Titanic videographer), and many more in the future. We are going to represent Saipan, Tinian and Rota at DEMA this year and planning another ADEX show soon. I guess that we are doing something right. Please give us a call 670 233 6100 or email us at stingraydivers@saipan.com. We are going to be quite busy towards the end of March...

Hi Joe,

I spent 2 weeks there in September. I stayed in Kapalai. All Sipadan resorts were closed as of December 31, 2004. You have to stay in Kapalai or Mabul.

Talk to me about the diving. I was very disappointed.........and it is a long trek to get there.

Hi Joe,

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about our shop as well. As one of the owners we have over 40 years of experience in the dive business. We have a course director, a full time PADI and NAUI instructor. I do feel it necessary to put some of Brady's claims into perspective. I am not about mudslinging, and as a former StingRay employee I have no need to say anything wrong about the other shop. However I would like to let you know that although Stingray has been in business the last 10 years that Brady has only been involved with the shop for last few of those. Additionally Brady has made grandiose claims of being chosen by Action Asia and National Geographic to host dives for them. In truth at the time of these visits, Stingray was the only english shop on island and the tours by these people were arranged by Saipan's visitors bureau. I know this because as mentioned I use to work there.

Now, as I mentioned before, I am not about mudslinging and I don't believe in childish behaviors but I will let you be the judge. I have posted on our website several pictures of our shop ( Speedy Tertle Dive Center Photos ) Please feel free to take a look. For that matter feel free to look at all the pictures. They will give you an idea of what Saipan has to offer. And ask Brady to do the same for all to see...

Either way and either shop, I do hope that you have a great time in Saipan and we look forward to seeing you soon. But I want to leave you with one last thought. I mentioned that there used be only one english shop, so why are there now two?

Regards,

Brett Donahue

Childish behavior? I think you are mudslinging. Grow up and get real.

Whoever posted the last message is not Ultradeep, someone has my username and password.
