wondering what people are carrying. Tekna has some recent products but not reviewed
There is one that can be used as strobe or backup light. The Tekna M1 is small and long lasting but no mention of visibility in miles although it says " high intensity".
multiple other brands that say waterproof but no depth rating.

going on a trip to Asia and looking for something compact and not too heavy

I use the Tektite 200 strobe to mark the anchor or shot lines when diving the wrecks in the Northeast. It's an OK strobe but I've had to replace it once because I flooded my first one. Most of the wreck divers up here seem to use the Tektite strobes as well, and it seems like it's the best strobe out there for what we use them for. Certainly not the best strobe out there, but it hurts less in the wallet when you flood or lose one. Now if money was no object, I'd love one of the Narked@90 strobes...

Pathfinder Strobe -GEN3-OUT OF STOCK

I was going to check this one out for local diving and maybe take it to cozumel.

Light and cheap with advertised depth rating of 100m and 1 mile visibility.

Meridian Strobe | Princeton Tec

Meridien sounds promising although you would think a circular 360 degree light may be better seen at greater distance.
Heard of several floods on the Tekna 200.
Will try to get info on visibility of the Tekna M1

We offer a very compact and bright dive light. It has two power settings and the third setting is a very bright SOS Strobe. Possibly this will fit your needs.

w/o 360 degree head, how does it benefit us as a marker? An example of use is to put it on a mooring point in lesser vis. conditions. A single direction emitter is umostly seless.
