roundrockdiver:
Thanks for all the input. Looks like it will be an OMS.

Thank You all,

Matt

Can you post the link to the OMS sausage? Gracias!

I have one as well. Another thing not mentioned that I don't like about them is that, as stated, your BC must be fully inflated to use it. Now, if you're deploying it to be seen by a boat, and they don't see you and you need to get down, you aren't going to be able to do that quickly (you must fully deflate the BC, and you will still have a lot of air trapped in the sausage, because the inflation valve is on the bottom).

i saw one un-roll underwater, didnt inflate but diver spent entire dive with this thing dragging behind her

Doc Intrepid:
Matt,
Sounds like an inventive solution to a nonexistent problem. Look at the size of the diameter. If you're close enough to the boat for the crew to see it, they can see you. If you're more than 100 yards from the boat, how big will it appear?

If you're going to carry one, get a real one. Something 5' or 6' long that can be used for more than one purpose, to include as a SMB if needed, as a surface support float, if needed, or even as a makeshift liftbag, if needed. I'm not pushing H gear, but...consider where you're going and compare and contrast visibility, etc. (Dive Alert Marker, bottom of first paragraph):

I agree with the above posters. The item you're investigating appears to be an expensive, single-purpose piece of gear, with a design that compromises both its ability to function well as well as the operation of your BC. (Try removing it to wave it around when you're up on the top of the waves) You can do better.

IMHO. FWIW. YMMV.

Doc Intrepid scores yet another bullseye.

Just to clarify a couple of things. You can screw it on to any dump valve that will screw off. You can fit it to most AL and Seaquest BCD's and probably others. Method of deployment is via an OPV. You *must* overinflate your bcd to deploy it (ie impossible to accidentialy inflate at depth....a good thing) and once deployed it remains inflated.

As for my personal opinion, let's just say if you want a good dsmb then buy a good dsmb. I can't see how this product has any added value.

R..
