Safety-Oriented Palau Dive Shop Recs

Does anyone have any opinions on the big 3 (or other) dive outfits in Palau? I'm particularly interested in one that emphasizes safety as I am a relatively new diver (<50 dives).

Also, in regards to reef hooks, do all of the major outfits advocate their use? I'm a bit leery of the concept (for safety & environmental reasons) and would at a very minimum only use one if the proper training were available.

You can not dive Blue Corner with out using a reef hook otherwise it will be a 3 min dive. The current can be that strong. The hook are used to hook into dead corals and / or rocks so one can watch the world go by. Most dive operators will take you on a beginning dive to see how you handle current ect. before taking you to dive where reef hooks are used. Take a safety sausage with you and know how to use it on all dives in Palau.

As for safety orent. shops would be any of them Sam's, Neko Dive, Fish and Fins.

I have used Dive Palau and Sams. In the last few years I have dove mostly with Keith at Dive Palau but he may be relocating to the Philippines. Currently I am booked with Sams in March.

Regarding the reef hook there is a thread at the beginning of this forum. No worries with a reef hook...they are a blast...nothing better than just sitting in the current hooked in and the Zoo is swimming in front of you.
