we are all safely on the island and had our first full day of diving, one word
awesome !!!!! huge formations on this island. Yesterdays highlight dive was diamond rock. This was a spire completely cover in coral and sponges surrounded by fish all over. 4 dive sch today you gotta love NDL dive time limits.

Mickey, I'll try to get some pics of Flossie's Cottage posted before you leave on your flight. When is that?

By the way, you will have no problems with these accomodations. We have 16 people here, and this is the "envy" place... the "party" place... The place where we some of us had dinner last night (Cheeseburgers). We didn't want to go to Brigadoon for dinner (everyone walked out of that place with a bill near or over $100)

Went to the local store for food stuffs to have in the cupboard (microwave popcorn, burgers cheese, peanut butter, jelly, pasta and sauce [for another night in], chips, salsa...). We didn't want to eat out every night, and pay $7.00 for sandwiches when we are diving 3 dives a day...

The good weather gods have granted us access to the windward side of Saba every day. Yesterday, we actually travelled all the way around the island. We even made a dive at Diamond Rock. One of our dive masters (Troy), has been on the island for 5 months, and was visibly excited for this dive... He said that in the 5 months he's been with Sea Saba, he has never been on this dive site

Time for ribs at The Swinging Doors!

Gotta run!

We leave this Thursday night. We have to overnight in Miami on Friday and then head out for St. Marten Saturday morning.
We originally had Orchid Cottage but when Explorer Ventures had us swap our weeks we lost Orchid. Flossie didn't seem as nice since it doesn't have the enclosed porch but maybe we'll actually use the hot tub one night.

Glad to hear that the weather has been so good for you. Hope it lasts for us as well. We plan to eat in a couple nights as well. Gotta pay for those extra afternoon dives :-)

Although $7.00 for a sandwich is considered a good deal up here...

Thanks for the info.

Irene

Alaska.... ouch... there is a resident "fan" (as in, a real fan...) here. I am a "sweater", but the fan is enough to keep me comfy. I have been moving it from the living room, to the bedroom to keep the flow here in the 70's and low humidity. There is no air conditioning in this cottage, but it is not necessary with the fan...

There is no reported crime here and we have never locked the door (Good thing... we have no key!)

Pack light... a load of laundry can be done here for a nominal $10 fee, and they fold your laundry as well....

The owners here, Wim and his wife ("yohanna", or Joanne) are very accommodating. Sea Saba is very accomodating.... hell, even the garbage truck guys have waved at me... I offered a beer, but they declined... lol...

We stopped into the conservation authority today and bought a couple souveniers... We didn't have enough cash on us to buy them... The guy (Yonus, Jonus) working said, "You guys are at Juliana's?... Just leave the money with them later.... I will most likely be at the bar later today drinking beer. I'll pick it up then..."... lol...

At dinner tonight, our dive master, Troy... ( who lives with our captain [his gf... Kat] on the boat) showed up at "The Swinging Doors" for the $12.00 rib dinner.... $5.00 for a partial more ribs... (Basically, a rack for $5.00 if you eat the original 7 bones they offer you first...)... Troy showed up with Kat's parents and all were at the table next to us. He was very willing to snap a picture of us all together. We "busted chops" on him with Kat's parents... It was easy to see that they, as well as their daughter, and her live in boyfriend got their sense of humor and adventure...

If I could think of a way to make a living on this 5 sq. mile piece of land, I would live the rest of my life here...just that easy....
