The internal bits are the same. The difference is the second stage body. The A700 has a chrome plated brass body vs. plastic for the s600. Whether or not it is worth the extra money is up to you, I own several of each, my primary kit has a pair of A700s.

I think the A700 is an example of Scubapro "making them like they used to". Considering the metal construction, hand brazing, chrome plating, and polishing it's worth the extra money.
The difference is right at $90-$100. It's worth the extra cost.

The A700 is a lot heavier but has a smaller profile than the S600. The pro's say it breaths better than the S600 at depth (.52 vs .58). The A700 is rated for cold water diving, other that the already mentioned nothing really.

Depends on type of diving your doing. I have dove the a700 its a nice reg personally I don't like the looks of it. I do own 3 S600's and they breath great, S600 is a little smaller/lighter than the a700 but it was not a big deal to me. If your diving Cold water I would actually go with MK17/G250V Its an awesome breathing reg and can be dove anywhere or the Atomic M1. I have compared these reg side by side with the S600 and to me it feels like it delivers the air better. Not a huge differnce Its just that little slight difference. Either reg you get will breath great and feel great.
