Comparing the underbelly's of the two, the similarities are remarkable. Assuming this was the same manta, I wonder if it seeks out divers to investigate?

I was thinking the same thing. There is a photo in each galary that is virtually the same shot and looking at the markings they are spot on (dumb pun intended, sorry  ). I'm no expert, but I have dove several times with a woman who does nothing but track various Manta's off Hawaii. From what I have gleamed from her I would say that it is most likely the same Manta - which I think is kinda cool. "Residents" are always fun.

Nice pics by both by the way.

The 2 photos I compared:

Hi Kong,
I recently bought an S400 and housing. Going to try it out for the first time underwater this weekend. Those are very nice pics! Were you using an external flash??

I would like to know if you are using a strobe as well and if so which one???? I have been thinking about getting the s400, I love the camera, as my folks have an older model and its great, it would be fantastic if i can get one to take underwater. Can you suggest a strobe?

Thanks

Great Shots Kong! I especially like your blue angelfish shots. Its so hard to great these fish in perfect profile like you did, and the background is very nice. BTW the Filefish? is indeed a whitespotted filefish, sometimes they display their spots, sometimes they dont.
My wife has an S400 which she loves for above water photos. Its so tiny she carries it in her purse. I just bought an underwater housing for her, I cant wait to help her try it out (heh, heh). Ive been using an S40 myself.

Man those are some great pictures! I must have went to the Flower Gardens at the wrong time! We saw pretty much nothing. I saw lots of christmas tree worms but not much else.
As to your fish butt pics, I have thought there should be a fish butt ID book. Seems like that is what most of my pics look like and what your buddy gets to see when you finally get his attention to look at the cool fish.

Hey Kong,

I have been looking at a bunch of strobes both from seaandsea and ikelite. I like the ys25 with the fiber cable.... THe pictures I see show the cable held on by velcro, it looks like it was made for the case specifically... do you know? Did you just cut your own velcro? Someone also told me to get a strobe that has an eye, and then I could somehow reflect the light from the internal flash up to the strobe so it can fire. Do you have any thoughts?

Thanks

Ari

What a wonderful set of dives! Mantas and Whale Sharks. I need to make that Flower Garden trip myself.
