I don't recall always having cell phone service over there and if it won't be a bargain rate it sorta defeats the whole point of taking a colectivo.

Yeah, that's why I'm not planning to use it anytime soon.
 
No cell service on the East side.
Sometimes I get texts at punta morena but unable to send.
