Im going to be heading to Runaway Bay, Jamaica and was wondering if anybody has been here? I just wanted to know what the good dive spots were if any and get a little insite. I will be staying at a Breezes Resort.

The photos on my Runaway Bay page were all taken from sites dove by Breezes Runaway Bay. Make sure you can either sign "No" to all the medical questions on a PADI class medical release form or bring a doctor's release with you. Also bring with your log book showing when you last dove. In the past they have limited open water certified divers to 60 feet, but if you had a card above open water and could show diving proficiency, they allowed you to dive deeper with a divemaster.

They have sunk a couple of planes and there is a boat wreck (the Reggae Queen) close by. The Spanish Anchor sticking out of the coral is also not far away. I am partial to wrecks since they do not move around when taking photos.

Been there a few times. Nice resort with the upgrades. But....be prepared for being blown out. My last two times there we got in only 2 days of diving. Not sure when you are going but I would think you would have better diving conditions in the summer vs. spring or fall.

The morning dive will be a deep dive. You can request but in most cases the crew will decide (perhaps the boat was just to the site you want to go and other divers aren't ready to go back) and the second morning dive will be shallow so they can take new students or DSD's along.

I wouldn't worry about where you are going. Just enjoy.

There are generally two DM's on the dive (unless the number of divers is small). One leading and one escorting. If you don't have deep diving experience they may limit you to the second dive. My first time there they checked my logbook (the only time it's ever been checked) to see when my last dive was and what my deepest dive was.

I am going to be heading to the same Breezes this summer sometime. How is the gear that is provided? Is it in good shape, or should I just bring my own? I will be there for a week and would like to dive atleast 3-4 days while im there.

We were there last December and the BCD's weren't bad. The regs all leaked. Some from the primary 2nd, some from the octo, some from the inflator connector. Some leaked more than others. The leaks aren't bad enough to shorten a dive since they are timed and kinda on the short side. It's still easier than lugging your own stuff, but you have to be willing to put up with equipment that needs servicing.
