The coast of BC is one of the best places in the world to see diverse life under the water. Don't take my word for is, that claim was made by Jacques Cousteau. It has also been repeated by most every other noted marine biologist in the world.

hey, even us Florida divers have heard how great BC diving is.
it's definitely on my top-five of "must do" dives (the realistic ones).

just in case anybody cares, this is the list:

1. Galapagos
2. BC
3. Truk Lagoon
4. Scapa Flow
5. Bazarutto Archipielago, Mozambique

Actually,I don't care about their coverage of Canada, I just found your huge advertisement for them funny as hell - you deserve a free subscription at least. ( I see your profile lists your occupation as a "scribe" - is it writing for them?)

I think Rodales has been full of Bull cookies for quite some time due to their biased gear reviews which are often slanted towards people who advertise heavily with them. not to mention how they ignore a pile of gear.

What really suprised me is that none of the Mod's pulled the post for being such an advertisement, of course the rules around here are a mystery at times anyway and often depend on which Mod is in charge, or if mars is approaching the vernal equinox or something....

BTW - Who is Brett?

Is this one of those - oh you're from Canada - Do you know "so and so" questions ?

Your not one of those guys from Georgia we see up here in July with a Skis strapped to the roof on their car looking for snow and igloos are you?
:crafty:

Since it was not an advertisment, and since I do not work for RSD, there would be no reason for the post to be pulled.

It is a recommendation. I highly recommend it.

BTW, everybody who has ever put on a technical rig knows who Brett is. The most famous Canadian in scuba. You need to brush up on your Canuck Whos Who.

Maybe you should give it a try,...

Not exactly on my list. Nor is Antarctica.

It's OK IB. We don't want you here anyway.

And by the way - I'm a DIR diver who dives a tech rig in Canada. Who the heck is Brett?

On second thought, forget it. I think I would just add that tidbit of information to rest of the stories you try to pass off as fact around here. You just really don't know when to give up for your own good, do you?

Hmmm..a mystery..

Of course most of the so called whos who types are often legends in their own minds - not the rest of the canucks up here diving regularily.

Guess I had better sell my technical rig and turn in my papers to the starstruck police.

Do I get a clue?

I totally agree! - but It doesn't always matter - I have seen quite a few posts yanked that said a whole lot less.

Oh and I want to try an experiment - Drysuit dry Suits, dry suit - I was reading a drysuit thread yesterday and low and behold all the ads showing up on the board were for drysuits. - ww.adsbygoogleboard.com

I read Rodales...I am even like it (ooh, look at all the pretty pictures, what can I say I am easily ammused). A lack of Canadian diving in this issue doesn't seem to be a big deal, however it does seems interesting. I seem to remember an issue a couple of months back (January maybe) that listed the "top 100 dive sites" and the BC coast made a lot of the sub category lists. This list was voted on by the readers of the magazine. I haven't read May's issue yet. So I can't compare the articles. Just making an observation.

IB's reference to Brett is most likely refering to Bret C. Gilliam.

He's president of Technical Diving International.

Maybe the same article that described top shore dive destinations? They listed Utila as on of THE shore dive destinations.

Lovely place, great diving, essentialy no shore diving.

Hmmm. (But I know how it got there on that list!)

The owner of a Utila op handed out blank copies of the Rodales survey. He took the time to explain to his guests the inane nature of this survey. He asked them to give "10's" to incredible, unlikely things... such as shore diving. (But to be honest otherwise in their critique of his operation)

Apparently a lot of his guests went along with the joke.

April Fool on Rodales. :crafty:

LOL...that is both funny and sad. So that may prove the addage, "there are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics."

Are you suggestion that Rodale's sample is not sufficently large as to be influenced by a single operator? Guess he could have talked to his friends and if they all did that with thier customers...

Wow that throws everything Rodale's does into question. I am crushed, imagine that...magazines publishing incorrect data. Who woulda thunk it. Oh well I will keep reading it anyway. Did I mention that I really like pretty pictures?
