Hey, just found the board tonight. I'm a new diver (certifified in June '06) and I've enjoyed it so much that I've been taking specialty classes and signing up for new trips as fast as I can. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so my local diving choices are limited to an 80' deep spring (Blue Hole, Santa Rosa, NM) and various murky lakes.

My girlfriend convinced me to certify. She had had a fear of water and is an inept swimmer...she certified to "overcome her fear" and it turns out she loves it! I'm proud of her and grateful that she introduced me to it. Her introduction amounted to paying for my lessons and telling me to take the class, hehe...she's my scuba sugar mama.

We took a group trip with our local shop to the Key Largo area in September and had a blast. Upon our return, she started planning our next trip and I ate up any diving literature I could find. My favorite dive was my first wreck dive to the Eagle. I'm eager to dive more wreck sites, but I have no problem diving reefs any day.

We've signed up for another trip with our local shop to Bonaire this January...looking forward to it.

My short-term diving goals include getting a speargun to do some freshwater hunting for catfish and bass around New Mexico. Longterm, I'd like to get into cave diving and deep wreck diving. Who knows if I'll have the will or the cash for it....I have a habit of picking up expensive outdoor habits with time committments ;)

Just shooting out an introduction. If any other NM divers hang out here and see this, shoot me an email if you're heading out to Blue Hole or feel like doing some spearing in Navajo or wherever. If I'm not busy with work or have a trip planned I'm always down. If we can't work it out we could always get together for a few beers...

Welcome to the Board, Scott! I'm located in Arizona. We haven't made it to the Blue Hole yet, but it's in our plans for 2007. I'll drop you a line when we plan our trip. My wife and I dive both wrecks and caves and love to share our enthusiasm for them!

Howdy and welcome to SB!

Hope to run into you around Santa Rosa. ;)

If you haven't yet, click Forums above and start going thru the list - looking for those of interest to you, especially your local dive club. Always good to try a Search before starting a new thread, tho :search: and be careful about posting Replies without reading the Stickies for each forum. Click the link in my Sig below to PM me if I can help you around here..
