Rolock 90

Although my Rolocks remained dry, they were often difficult to remove after a dive without gripping the drysuit sleeve. Merry loves her Waterproof Ultima Twist system, so I switched to that. They are certainly easier to don /doff than the Rolock 90s.

Thanks as you had both, would you say Ultima system is that bulkier than Rolocks or it's just a detail. As i understood, and besides maybe that bulky question, only negative point of Ultima would be to install that glove on the ring but maybe that could be okay with some training or by having a slightly bigger ring

It's a little bulkier, but not enough to be noticeable underwater.

I love my Rolocks. Rarely bother to lube them, always dry and easy to remove.

I 2nd, 3rd, or 4th this. I don't ever have issues with mine. I never close them all the way to make the dots match up either... maybe 1/2 or 2/3's at most. I can't remember the last time I lubed them.

I don't fully rotate mine either, half the amount dot to dot has never been an issue. If I don't put a light film of superlube synthetic grease on the orings every other dive, I sometimes need help removing them after. If I keep the orings lightly lubed, I can easily remove them by just holding my opposite cuff and rotating my wrist.

Regardless, in the water they are foolproof, and I can't help but wonder why people are still horsing around with lesser dry glove systems that require so much putzing around with and still accidently separate during a dive.

I recently tried some of the chapstick style zipper lube and I have to say it's far better than silicone. Turns smoother and easier to apply.

Just a followup to this and a DM conversation with @sharko108:

As I have stated, the Ultima rings are a good system but the company redesigned the glove-side rings to add the "twist" tabs to facilitate separation/removal of the gloves post dive.

While that is a positive change, it in itself makes a statement about the Ultima rings themselves. If there was no problem with the Ultima DGS, Waterproof would not have made the modification, and then softly introduced the "Twist" system to the market, while waiting to burn through remaining stock of the original version, before beginning widespread advertisment of the "Twist" version of the ring system.

Its good, but it addresses complaints and the issue that the rings can be hard to separate after a dive...so much so that they resorted to the "Twist" change.

I don't think you will regret purchasing the Ultima system...but if you ever have the chance to try the Rolock 90, you will most likely think "why didn't I invest in these from the start".

There is an old english expression when it comes to purchasing tools and other things that are of quality and expense:
