In early november, i was assigned to do a project on a cult classic...My teacher recommended that I do the rocky horror picture show since, no one has taken it yet...After researching this video, i really didnt want to see it but, had no choice.
I am soo happy that my teacher has assigned me that movie! Ive watched it over 20 times since and I saw Rocky Horror picture show live at the Bloor Cinema ( for any torontonians, i recommend you go to it on december 31st at midnite at bloor cinema, its a stuffing contest).
I wanted to know if there are any true rocky horror picture fan lovers here ( like me!) or haters....
Also, do you think its all one big fantasy or it actually happened to brad and janet?

I must say, and this is my opinion, that the rocky horror picture show is a brilliant movie!

lol. I haven't seen that in years, but I did see it many many times. Quite possible the most fun movie ever made.

I think I could still do the time warp from memory (but I'd have to be wasted to remember it properly)

It's just a jump to the left...

It is 1000x fun to watch if someone close to you remembers most of the lines and replace them with his/her own.
It is 10x fun if there is a host in the show.
It is 1x fun if you go watch with a group of ppl in a theatre.
It sucks if you have never heard about it and want to see it yourself at home since a lot of ppl talk about it.

Yes, I am a fan and I enjoy watching it with group of ppl in a theater, since I don't remember most of the lines. :D

I am wondering if the producer still gets a cut from the show each year.

Man, this brings back memories. I just took a "time warp". If you know about how to watch this show, you need to see it in a fully packed theater. Tradition is that when certain things happen in the movie, people do that action in the theater, or similar behavior, to make it a "user friendly" movie. When it rains, people start shooting water guns in the theater, hitting whoever is around them. There is a part when there is a toast, and then the audience starts throwing real toast around the theater. I saw it one time in a small private hall, and climbed up to a closed balcony to watch it with my brother. When the time came for the "rain" and people began shooting off those little rinky-dinky water guns, we opened up with the SIX water fire extinguishers that were stored on the balcony (Lucky for me the statute of limitations has passed on this one). We had to make a run for it when we finished, but it was well worth it! Many people can recite the entire film from beginning to end, and many dress up in character. This film used to be shown at a local mall every friday and saturday night at midnight, but that was years ago.

Those were the days...

The local theater use to show it but now...well they have new owners. Never made it myself since I was to young and innocent at the time.

Still love the show. I have it in VHS and it contains lines and songs that the original release doesn't. Can't remember what they are but the show is a hoot.

Everybody time warp...again!!

We used to go to Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, Michigan, EVERY Friday and Saturday night. I used to play the part of Magenta and even played Frank N Furter one night for a sold-out Halloween showing! Of course this was back in the day when I used to wear all black, have fuschia hair, black eye liner down my face and lipstick so red Robert Smith would have been jealous. Ahhhh! That brings back some fond memories! The toast, rice, water guns, lighters, playing cards, a jump to the left and then a step to the right. Yup, I was part of that cult. It seemed to be the place to go when you just didn't seem to fit in anywhere else.

There's a li-i-i-i-ight <Where's Michael Jackson?> burning in the fireplace! :)

As far as movies go, its actually pretty unwatchable. There have been tens-of-thousands of movies released (attempting to inject some perspective here) and there have been more than a few brilliant ones - RHPS really isn't a brilliant movie.

However, as an entertainment event - it is singularly without peer.

It has been a lightening rod for creative people since it was released. And these silly and creative people have turned this thing into quite the event. Hundreds of revival theatres across the country running the RHPS at midnight for decades.

It gave rise to thousands of costumed, rice flinging and toast tossing devotees. Reciting, singing, dancing, prostelytizing their friends to give up sleep and take the stage next to them.

It really introduced a young (and exceptionally talented) Tim Curry to an American audiuence, while also giving us the first glance into the beautiful eyes and magnificient breasts of Ms. Sarandon.

As a movie - pretty unwatchable. As an event - wow.

But what do I know - I've only seen it a few hundred times myself.

So, I'm guessing you either saw it at the Rialto or on the Sunset Strip.
